Akami stood there for a moment, staring at him suspiciously. She waited for accusations,or an attempt on her life. None came. She stood in silence, unsure how to return his greeting.
“Hey.” She finally muttered, staying where she was.
Another long silence followed.
“It’s been a while. I’m actually pretty surprised you’re here. I had it figured you were back at Novus, or that the machines got ya. Glad you made it here okay.”
The shiba inu shrugged. How was she supposed to respond? The husky seemed to want to make friendly conversation, but last time she had seen him, she had been standing by the fresh corpse of his sister. Part of her suspected a trap, but that wasn’t Leon’s style.
“I ain’t angry about Ashley. I’m sad she’s gone, yeah, but… she killed a lot of my friends and my brother. I love my family and all, and we were close once but she wasn’t righ’ in the head. I couldn’t see it at the time, and I never would’ve been able to stop her myself.”
The shiba inu gave Leon a long calculating look. He had gotten over her killing his sister, just like that. Ashley was one death Akami didn’t regret. It was her own dumb fault, and the female would never regret the outcome.
“Get yourself a glass.We’ll catch up.”
Leon pulled out a bottle.
Akami joined him at the table, standing with her arms crossed. So, their encounter wasn’t going to turn into the deadly kind. She was relieved at that. The female had enjoyed her stay at Knothole. Myst had kept quiet about what she knew about Akami, and she had spoken of her life pre-Freedom Fighters to anybody else. Why should she risk it? But, Leon, he knew all her dirty little secrets. It would be an easy revenge to let it slip.
“No thanks on the drink.” She replied. “You seem to have gotten over your sister’s death quite quickly, Leon.”
She wanted to ask him, what the hell he was doing there. Why, was he here?
“I haven’t seen you around the base before. Been keeping yourself busy?”
I redrew my redesign of Mari-anne. We still need a player for her on R2M.
